In year 2003., PROGRES has signed contract with non-profit NGO BILD-BIH regarding conducting joint activities in project New Initiative for Tuzla. Cooperation considered engagement of our volunteers on this project and each work hour would be counter valued in money which would be accumulated till the end of project. At the end of the project money value is split in two parts: one part (up to 15%) is transferred on our organization account and second is exclusively available for procurement of equipment which would serve self sustenance of our organization.
This time also, our volunteers have shown great readiness and willingness to work which resulted in around 2000 volunteer hours. After completition of the project, Association could use part of the money (15%) for financing different activities while rest is used for procurement of computer equipment. Equipment was added to the part of equipment donated by European Committee through project Enabling easier approach to Universities in B&H to the people with special needs. Equipment donated by European Committee (in year 2000) was donated in basis of reward amount for good quality evaluation and good project results. Even though this equipment was a bit old, with 8 new computers we got from project New Initiative for Tuzla we have started our Internet club under name STARnet.
STARnet started operating in February 2004 and still achieves positive results. Financial incomes from the club are totally utilized for financing operation of our Association according to the provisions from the Statute. Contract between our Association and BILD-BIH considered three year continuous monitoring of the equipment utilization and funds distribution. Final results of the cooperation with BILD-BIH were that project was successfully implemented. Our main goal was that STARnet enable with its own funds, self sustenance of the Association. We have succeeded in same. STARnet continued to operate and still successfully functions.
